Ingredient library
Base ingredients, entered once and reused everywhere.
This is your ingredient library — the raw items you buy. Enter the purchase quantity, unit, and cost, plus a yield % for any trim or waste, and Costty works out the cost per base unit automatically. Start typing a name for AI-powered suggestions and typo fixes.
Suggestions marked est. include a rough AI-estimated price — a general ballpark, not a live or guaranteed-accurate market quote. Always double-check it against your actual supplier cost before relying on it.
Reset clears an ingredient's qty, unit, cost, and yield back to their defaults (1, g, 0, 100%) without touching its name — handy for redoing an entry from scratch.

Made-in-house items
Batch-prepared sauces, stocks, and doughs built from your library.
Batch-prepared sauces, stocks, doughs, or other sub-recipes you make yourself. Pick "New" to start one, add ingredient (or other made-in-house) lines, and Costty calculates its cost per base unit — so you can use it as an ingredient inside your menu items.
Don't see what you need in the source dropdown? Pick + New ingredient at the bottom of the list to add it to your library — you'll be brought straight back here with it already added.

Menu items
What's actually sold — costed and priced against your target.
Your menu items. Add ingredient and made-in-house lines to build the menu item, set a menu price and target food cost %, and Costty shows your actual food cost %, cost per serving, and a suggested price if you're running over target.
Don't see what you need in the source dropdown? Pick + New ingredient at the bottom of the list to add it to your library — you'll be brought straight back here with it already added.
Manual vs. Menu Item Wizard — New creates a blank menu item you build line by line yourself, full control from the start. Menu Item Wizard is a guided alternative: pick a dish category, get an AI-suggested "usual suspects" ingredient list with estimated prices to start from (editable before anything's saved), fill in quantities, then land on the same food cost %/price tools with a slider instead of typing numbers cold. Either way you end up with an ordinary menu item here — the wizard is just a faster on-ramp, and everything it creates stays fully editable afterward.
Add at least 2 ingredients to your library before creating a menu item.

Monthly P&L
Revenue against food cost, labor, and overhead.
Track a period's revenue against food cost, labor, and overhead percentages. Costty calculates gross profit, prime cost %, operating profit, and operating margin automatically — food cost % can be pulled straight from one of your menu items instead of entered by hand.
